Kinja'd!!!

Cut a deal today on a 2012 Wrangler Sport, CPO. Went through Rockland Jeep, which were awesome. I had a recommendation from the Owner's friend, so that didn't hurt either. While gas mileage will be down, and its… well…

It's an automatic….

I'm pretty psyched for the car. I drove the manual version a few times, and just couldn't deal with the vagueness. Plus, for the amount of driving I'm doing in NYC, and traffic, I really will be less stressed. I'll get myself a project car, or weekend driver in a couple years, once I've paid this down.

Signed paperwork today, gotta put the stock wheels back on the Focus this weekend, and I pick the Wrangler up on Monday.

I'm gonna be selling my winter setup, which is on the car now, so if any of you FoST (or FiST?) owners are interested, let me know. And if you're in the NY/ NJ area of course.

soft top + NYC = don't keep shit in that car, unless your donating it to some one..

Also jealous! I have never been able to bring my self to pull the trigger on a wrangler!

From experience, driving a Wrangler in NYC is no fun at all. The size isn't really a big deal at all, since they just look bigger than they are, but they are very uncomfortable even on smooth roads.

Also, 13-15 mpg city. Yeah, you'll be gassing up a lot.

Lucky my company pays for my gas. The ride is rough, but the ride in the focus is rougher, IMO. Not having to worry about potholes will be a big upside.

That's what I've heard, but I'll see. I rarely keep anything in my car anyway, but I'll likely search for a junked hard top or cheap used one.

Given where you work and live, why a wrangler? just curious.

Are you guys hiring?

Would be nice to have them pay for gas for the Sequoia. Then again... not the most NYC friendly vehicle.

word, you'll want a hard top for winter purpose any ways. helps keep what heat you heater makes in the car. But with the soft top it takes less than a minuet and no effort at all to up a button and reach in side. get use to having a back pack to carry yo shit in. it's not a huge deal but over all you will be happy. Like other have said it's not the most comfortable thing for city driving but it'lle at those NYC pot holes for lunch, breakfast and dinner!

Oh you actually did it?

I'm still on the fence...though I do want a Wrangler I don't know if I could do the 2 door and fit stuff in the back for trips.

I've always wanted one for starters. From when I was little. I love cars, but the only SUV I'd ever consider was a Wrangler. For how much I'm driving, and how shitty the roads are, I want something that will take the abuse. It's small enough to park with ease in Astoria, and the turning circle is better than my Focus (LOL seriously…..). Plus, summer will be great. I love convertibles, but could never get myself to purchase one until now.

Resale value on these VS Focus is through the roof too.

Haha, we always are. Check out MakerBot's career page. Not for my position at the moment, but there's lots on there.

Bingo! That's part of my thinking. Stoked for summer with this, and I've heard the soft top ain't so terrible in the winter. Not as good as a hardtop for sure.

I rarely rarely leave anything in my car, and never overnight save for some paper goods.

Sure did haha.

I don't have a family or anything, so fitting stuff isn't a necessity for me. For my friend group, we usually have to take two cars anyway. I'd say I can easily fit 3 people (including me) for a weekend camping trip. Then again, I pack light.

If I need more space, the back seat is easy to fold forward or take out too.

My parents live close (Queens, born and raised too) so, if I need to carry shit, I can borrow the Prius or surprisingly durable Matrix.

That said, I'll probably invest in a trailer hitch, and get a tray on the back, and a bike rack.

No agruments on your reasons and I perfectly respect just wanting a car. I hope it works out well for you, I couldn't DD a wrangler these days...too cold/noisy

Funny you mention you're thinking about buying a project car later on, I think you just did, haha.

Nice Jeep, hope it serves you well.

Hahahaha. Well, a sportier car I meant really. But you're right. I NEED to not dump money into mods on this at first. But it'll be hard. I can think of so many things….

Thanks! Haha. Half reminds me of my old Eclipse, just with WAY more head room and more legroom for that matter too.

Don't be fooled, you can still tear your tires up with these moon craters! Just exercise caution man and it sucks you have to let go of the FoST (I remember when I saw it down by Bleeker) but maybe you'll get to pick up a CPO Focus RS in a couple years instead!

It's a great vehicle! Remember to give the Jeep wave to other Wrangler drivers! Also, if it's in your budget, I would change the tires on it. The Goodyear Wrangler SR-As are pretty bad in wet conditions. Other than that, enjoy your Jeep!

Here's my review of my Jeep from a few months ago: http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/2012-jeep-wran…

YES that'd be amazing haha. totally forgot you were the one who saw it over there! I believe it about the tires, so I'm still gonna be cautious. I'd love a CPO RS hah. Maybe I'll be able to get it as a second car :)

NICE Im about to read your review now. Good to know about the tires. I'll look into that now.

What forums do you regular? I've heard Jeep owners are a close knit community so I'll be sure to wave. I'll probably forget for a bit and continue to wave at FoST drivers.
